Housing & Food Services (HFS) provides on-campus housing to over 10,000 student residents and operates over 40 dining and café locations that serve the entire campus community.

Position Purpose Serve as a resource for staff and maintain systems and processes that support Payroll functions.
Description of Duties • Provide a high level of customer service for a diverse customer base in a walk-up environment with the ability to multi-task, while maintaining a high level of speed and accuracy.
Monitor and manage shared email account, prioritizing and responding to a high volume of inquiries.
• Act as payroll point person for all new hires and I9 processing.
Maintain knowledge of employment law and ensure new hires are processed appropriately.
• Act as a subject-matter expert on all payroll policies and procedures.
Respond to inquiries and provide information to employees at all levels of the organization.
Assist in developing and documenting new Department protocols as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of HR operations and policies as they relate to payroll.
Understand and apply HR and bargaining unit policies and procedures to payroll activities.
• Enter new employees into the University payroll system.
Assist employees with required paperwork, verifying employment eligibility and processing international tax paperwork.
• Run scheduled and ad-hoc reports.
Provide reporting expertise to unit managers.
• Audit and review payroll on a regular basis, ensuring all payroll data is complete, accurate, and in compliance with University and Department policies.
Analyze trends and report out on issues as needed.
• Perform related duties as required.
Position Dimensions/Complexities Position works in a busy office with a high volume of payroll transactions, including hundreds of new hires each year and over 1,000 monthly payroll transactions.
Position will have direct contact with students and employees from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization, often working under pressure to resolve sensitive payroll issues.
A successful candidate must be able to maintain rapport and professionalism to serve responsively and objectively.
Minimum Qualifications • Two years of experience providing administrative support in the area of fiscal and/or business management or equivalent education/experience.
Additional requirements: • Experience using accounting-related software.
• Experience with MS Office suite, including Excel and Outlook.
• Proven ability to handle strict deadlines in a fast-paced office with competing priorities.
• Customer service experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
Desired Qualifications • Experience with Workday HR-Payroll.
• Experience with computerized payroll systems.
