About Us – Capital Benefit Group is an employee benefits consulting and administration company, primarily serving small and mid-sized employers through a unique and specialized Association Health Plan (AHP) management approach.
Based in Bellevue, WA, CBG manages multiple AHP programs in Washington and Oregon, with potential expansion into other states.
Directly related to the effective management of AHP pools, CBG companies also support Medicare, Individual and other group-based insurance programs for our clients.
Role Summary – Under the supervision of the VP of Finance, the Staff Accountant is an important member of the Finance & Accounting Department.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for processing Payroll, Accounts Payable and managing GL accruals as well as commissions deposits and banking activities.
*Duties and key responsibilities:*
*Staff Accountant*:
* Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing and accounting system to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions
* Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions
* Enter all Accounts Payable with data entry and invoice processing
* Prepares monthly account schedules and reconciliations, including, but not limited to, prepaid expenses, other assets, accrued liabilities, other liabilities.
* Assist with the month-end closing process, conducting research and making correction journal entries for account discrepancies, posts closing journal entries and accrual entries.
* Commissions deposits & banking
* Trust Banking Reconciliations & deposits
* Assist in preparation and maintenance of employment records related to events such as hiring, termination, pay changes, status changes, transfers, and promotions
* Provide support in conducting on-boarding and off-boarding activities
* Work closely with management for recruitment and retention activities
* Assist in daily office management for 50 employees
*Qualifications*
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business accounting, or finance.
In lieu of a degree, 5 years of progressive and relevant experience will suffice.
* Experience with payroll processing software.
* Strong understanding of basic accounting principles including GAAP
* Understanding of general human resource policies and procedures.
* Hands on experience with computers and software including: QuickBooks Online, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Paychex (or similar payroll provider)

Base Salary: $68,000 - $85,000 a year
Plus quarterly incentive compensation based on company and individual performance.
