Job Title: Project Accountant
Job Summary:
The Project Accountant will support Gregg Drilling’s geotechnical and environmental remediation projects.
The Project Accountant plays a critical role as a strong financial partner to our operations team, helping them understand and use financial information to make informed business decisions.
The Project Accountant must be collaborative, value integrity, a self-starter who can set goals and objectives with little direction in a fast-paced and changing environment.
The person in this role communicates clearly and concisely to financial and non-financial colleagues, both orally and in writing.
Questioning the status quo by offering thought-provoking and creative solutions to improve accuracy and increase efficiency is key to success in this role.
This role is accepting applicants from the Signal Hill, CA area and the Seattle, WA region only.
Duties/Responsibilities: • Ensures that timesheets are submitted and approved by established deadlines.
• Reviews project subcontractor, supplier and consultant payables and ensures they are consistent with the vendor contract and appropriately approved before payment.
• Ensures that expenditures are properly coded by job, equipment, or G&A.
Strives to record as capital, direct cost, or indirect expense in service period.
Approves transaction batches.
• Prepares billing reports for project manager review before preparing client invoices.
• Ensures that clients are billed regularly, accurately and on time.
• Supports project managers in collection efforts as needed.
• Monitors project budgets, staffing, work plans and billing/fee structures.
• Provides project managers with timely and accurate financial reports, budget status, and forecasts.
• Supports the proposal process by providing financial analysis and required financial information as requested.
• Ensures that project financials are up-to-date and reported weekly.
• Participates in month- and year-end closing schedule management, ensuring team provides documentation requested by external auditors.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities: • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and provide reports on a timely basis.
• High level of initiative and ability to work independently.
• Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
• Multi-currency/international experience.
• Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge using Microsoft Excel.
Desirable, but not required.
• Experience supporting offshore businesses is a plus.
• Experience supporting international activities.
• Vista, Sage, Deltek or other mainstream project-based ERP experience.
• US GAAP experience.
Education and Experience: • Recognized accountancy qualification, university degree or equivalent in accounting.
• Three to five years of project accounting experience.
• Project accounting experience, ideally in construction and/or engineering industries.
