Position Summary
The Accounting department at Bellevue College is seeking applications for an ongoing pool of applicants interested in teaching Accounting in our AA Associate in Applied Science - T Degree and/or Associate in Arts Degree , on a part-time basis.
Depending on qualifications, new adjunct faculty may be assigned to teach in one of two degrees we offer.

Course levels range from introductory to advanced.
Note that these are temporary faculty positions, typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule Adjunct Professor is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
Quarterly remuneration for 5-credit lecture class is $5,201.

Compensation is prorated based on type and duration of assignments.
Individuals newly hired to Adjunct Professor group at the college are placed at the minimum rate per union bargaining agreement.
Certain positions may also be eligible for assignment/project-based additional compensation, including a High Demand Stipend up to $8,350 annually, prorated based on the discipline and duration of the assignment.
All additional compensations are subject to change depending on funding and negotiated agreement.

About the Department The Accounting Department consists of two full-time faculty and a number of quarterly-contracted faculty.
Our annual enrollments have grown from 1,431 in 2016 to 1,712 for the academic year ended June 30, 2021.
The program strives to build a supportive and encouraging community for both faculty and students and is committed to putting student success at the center of every decision.
As part of this effort we are committed to building a multi-cultural program that parallels the diversity of our community.
Essential Functions Typically, part-time faculty in Accounting teach on campus, as dictated by program need, course schedule, and enrollment demand.
Most classes meet one or two days a week.
In addition, part-time faculty are expected to be available to students periodically outside of class; to engage students actively in their own learning; to maintain high standards regarding course content; provide students with timely feedback on their course work and examinations; and to adhere to program assessment practices and policies.
Part-time faculty may be expected to participate in governance activities to support student success efforts and assessment tasks.
Courses are offered in online and on campus modalities.
Faculty may be assigned to teach classes in either modality.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited institution Relevant experience in Accounting industry Demonstrated ability to facilitate learning of students/colleagues from diverse backgrounds Ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues Ability and willingness to adapt to changing teaching schedules and situations Preferred Qualifications Master's of Professional Accounting, and/or Master's of Science in Taxation, or related fields of study from an accredited institution Five years of relevant experience in accounting industry, preferably with an international CPA firm Teaching experience in community college level Coursework and/or expertise in statistics, data analytics, software, or technology Demonstrated knowledge of current curricula, industry development and assessment practices Knowledge/experience working with a variety of teaching modalities and delivery methods, including learning management system, simulation, flipped classes, asynchronous/synchronous online, and hybrid courses Ability and willingness to employ continuous improvement in curriculum, teaching, and assessment Willingness to participate in college initiatives/governance Ability to work independently and as part of a team Conditions of Employment Bellevue College intends to provide a drug-free, healthy, safe, and secure work and educational environment.
