Position Summary
The Payroll Assistant helps Payroll staff to process and manage complex transactions ensuring all employees are paid in an accurate, timely, and cost-efficient manner in compliance with College policies and governmental regulations.
The Payroll assistant is responsible for entering payroll information into ctcLink, adding new hires into the system, validating payroll data and maintaining payroll records.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule Pay rate: $20.
00 - $23.
00 per hour, depending on experience.
The successful candidate is expected to work 17 hours per week.
This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment.
The temporary hourly employment is limited to the earlier of 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months beginning from the original date of hire.
Per WAC 357-04-045 , following 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months, an individual is not eligible for re-employment at Bellevue College in another temporary part-time hourly position.
Temporary hourly employees who work more than three hundred fifty (350) hours in a twelve consecutive month period may be subject to provisions of one the collective bargaining agreements covering Classified employees at Bellevue College.
This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month.
Eligible positions are eligible for certain benefits .

About the Department The Payroll Shared Services Center provides effective services for three WA State Colleges: Bellevue College, Everett Community College, and Skagit Valley College.
The Payroll Center processes and manages complex transactions ensuring all employees are paid in an accurate, timely, and cost efficient manner in compliance with College policies and governmental regulations.
The department provides information and consultative solutions to employees and administrators to solve urgent problems and advance colleges goals and objectives.
Essential Functions Maintain and modify payroll records File personnel and payroll documents after payroll process is confirmed Complete the new hire and termination payroll procedures Assist in payroll processing, resolving discrepancies and correcting entries Assist in gathering and examining timesheets to ensure their validity Ensure that compensation for overtime work and leave without pay are calculated at the appropriate rate Prepare and distribute hard copy or electronic paychecks Under the supervision of Payroll Specialist resolve discrepancies in payments as a matter of urgency Respond to calls and emails regarding payroll schedule, payroll adjustments, how to navigate the self-service module Process a semi-monthly payroll accurately and timely Minimum Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent education/experience Two years of fiscal or payroll experience; or equivalent combination of education/experience Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of People Soft/ctcLink Ability to work with diverse groups, and commitment to cultural pluralism Conditions of Employment Bellevue College intends to provide a drug-free, healthy, safe, and secure work and educational environment.
