Based in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, our company has been in operation for eight years and has grown exponentially since inception.
Our company is comprised of two distinct but related companies *Tim Lenihan Homes *is a real estate group consisting of five brokers.
We differentiate ourselves by providing a more personal touch with our clients and are constantly evolving our approach to customer service based on individual needs of each client.

*Modern Den Homes & Development *is a boutique speculative developer of one-of-a-kind custom homes in and around the Seattle metropolitan area.
Our homes are meticulously created utilizing progressive architecture and natural materials with an eye toward sustainability.
We focus on quality over quantity and generally have around 12 active projects at any time, selling 2-5 per year.
Over the next three years, our current trajectory will result in our both of these companies doubling in size as well as launching new related business ventures within the real estate and development industries.
*Key Role:* Reporting direct to the company owners, the Finance Manager/Controller will be responsible for oversight and performance of accounting, reporting activities, related office manager responsibilities and will play a key role in assisting the owners with all aspects of operations including forecasting and strategizing for the company’s future success.
They will lead day to day accounting operations with functioning responsibility for all aspects of the two businesses accounting and finance operations.
This position has the unique role of crafting internal policies, procedures and control processes largely from scratch as this is a new position with the company.
Previous accounting functions were performed by a mix of one of the company’s owners as well as an external CPA firm.
With our growth plan, the ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and hungry to grow with the company.
The person will wear multiple hats and provide a critical and exciting role of strategizing with the Company owners in growing the companies! *Compensation:* Salary: $90,000 - $120,000 with competitive benefits.
Hybrid role with a minimum of 2-3 days per week in office.
Finance Manager/Controller Core Responsibilities: * Active participant in strategic planning meetings with company owners.
* Oversees and/or performs company accounting practices.
* Executes monthly close processes for two businesses.
* Prepares monthly profit and loss and balance sheets.
* Interacts with company bankers for purpose of construction draws and lending.
* Interacts and coordinates with third party accounting firm.
* Provides assistance to office brokers as needed.
* Manages commission disbursements.
* Either files state and local (Excise tax) returns or coordinates with third party accounting firm to file returns.
* Runs payroll via third party payroll processor.
* Protects the companies by keeping all financial information confidential.
* Prepares and achieves budget objectives by collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending action plans for growth and/or cost control including initiating correction actions when necessary.
* Maintains highest possible ethical standards both individually and in representation of the Company.
* General office duties including: fulfilling office supplies, light organization, scheduling cleaners, weekly trash/recycle disposal (on-site), etc.
*Qualities:* * Someone who takes initiative and is capable of being self-motivated.
* Ability to work independently and with both internal team members as well as external partners.
* Exceptional knowledge of or ability to quickly learn accounting software solutions including QuickBooks Online, Bill.
com as well as the ability to learn and/or implement industry specific software solutions for managing construction processes and Broker commissions.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
* Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
* Strong ethical standards.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Upbeat and fun attitude.
*Requirements:* * Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
* Five or more years’ experience in accounting/finance.
* Exemplary history of financial project management.
* Strong knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
* Preferred skills and qualifications * Five or more years progressive experience in accounting/finance functions.
* Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant).
* Real estate, Construction and property management or escrow experience.
