Hauser Jones & Sas is hiring for an Experienced Staff Auditor in the Bellevue office.
The Staff Auditor assists with multiple operations of the audit practice area and delivers quality services that increase the firm’s reputation.
They are responsible for documenting internal operating controls, processes and practices.
They will suggest changes and enhancements to existing policies and controls to make sure they are current, adequate, functional and utilized in accordance with standards established by the government and the company.
The ideal candidate is motivated and interested in learning, with competency in technical skills, excellent time management skills and accuracy in work quality, along with a working knowledge of GAAP.
Job Description:
Participates in the engagement planning process
Performs detailed audit procedures on financial statement account balances, prepares and adjusts work papers from clients’ trial balance
Researches accounting issues
Recognizes potential problem areas in specific engagements and discusses them with engagement supervisor
Identifies potential management letter comments
Assists with more complicated segments of audit and accounting engagements
Assumes full responsibility (under supervision) for preparation of compiled and reviewed financial statements
Drafts audited financial statements, including footnote disclosures
Performs other accounting, auditing, and consulting duties as needed in engagements and as assigned by supervisory personnel
Will gain exposure to preparing tax returns and may assist with preparation as necessary
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and licensed CPA, or CPA eligible
Well-rounded knowledge of GAAP, and knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Government Auditing Standards (GAS Yellow Book) and Generally Accepted Governmental Accounting Standards (GAGAS) is a plus
Proficiency in use of computers and computer accounting software programs, preferably CCH Profx Engagement
Analytical skills with detail orientation and ability to multi-task
Good oral and written communication skills
Good time management and organizational skills
Preferred Skills
One to three years’ audit experience in the commercial, governmental, non-profit sectors or benefit plan audit experience a plus; public accounting and tax experience preferred but not required.
