Job Summary and Mission Starbucks is seeking a highly skilled and motivated accountant II to join the Integrated Logistics Accounting team.
The Integrated Logistics Accounting team manages Starbuck’s third-party freight audit and pay providers.
The team works cross-functionally with Transportation Operations and Logistics Finance teams to ensure timely freight invoice processing and accounting and is also responsible for freight accruals and reclasses for inbound green coffee, finished goods, and inter-port transfers.
As an accountant II, you will contribute to Starbucks success by supporting the freight pay and accounting processes and working cross-functionally with the Transportation Operations, Data, and Tech teams to research and resolve freight order and invoicing issues and assist with tasks and projects to improve the freight pay and accounting processes.
This job contributes to Starbucks success by performing accounting functions, ensuring data integrity and accuracy, ensuring a timely and accurate month end close, and modeling behavior in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: • Assist in maintaining various accounting systems and processes • Contribute ideas and innovations to improve upon existing systems • Assist with month end close tasks involving journal entries and reconciliations • Validate and ensure correct GL coding for orders and shipments • Assist 3PL Freight Pay auditors in researching and validating outstanding orders and invoices • Work cross-functionally with Transportation Operation and Sourcing teams on freight pay issues and resolutions • Assist the Integrated Logistics Accounting team with SOX controls and any ad hoc research, clean-up, and process improvement projects Basic Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent work experience • 2+ years of relevant experience • Experience working within Accounts Payable Accounting a plus • Experience within a Transportation organization or function a plus • Performing complex accounting activities in a high growth environment at a large, multi-national, public company • Applying US GAAP to complex business transactions Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Working knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, or other ERP) preferred • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate accounting results to both accounting and non-accounting customers at various levels of the organization • Strong problem solving and analytical skills • Ability to interact effectively at various levels of the organization • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Word.
