Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will assist in the planning, controlling, measuring and reporting of the financial information.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to the day to day accounting and to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.
Duties and responsibilities
Posts daily companywide transactions in the ERP system
Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role
Prepares and posts month end journal entry adjustments and allocations
Ensures the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
Analyzes the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis, including the reconciliation of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.
Analyzes monthly P&L variance from budget and prior year.
Prepares month and year-end working papers including assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures.
Collects and analyzes the historical data to be used in the budget process.
Compiles data to aid Senior Accountants in the preparation of monthly financial statements and other financial reports.
Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenue and expenses.
Maintains financial security by researching and reconciling discrepancies; auditing and verifying documents; following internal controls: Accomplishes tasks on time and contribute to the team by taking on special projects as needed.
Prepares and reports daily revenue projections.
Responds to inquiries from the VP, Finance and other managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests etc.
Supports Controller and CFO with special projects

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related required.
Professional designation preferred
Minimum 2-3 years working experience in accounting required
Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and GAAP
Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization
Computer literate, including effective working skills of Microsoft Office and Great Plains
Ability to adapt to and learn new software
Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently
High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines
Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
Attention to detail in all areas of work
