About the Internship Program: An Internship at Umpqua Bank is more than a summer job; it’s an experience that includes: Cohort Orientation: Interns will start on the same day in cohorts when academic schedules allow.
Project-based Assignment: Interns are assigned one specific project that serves as an extension of the classroom experience, contributes value to the Bank, and provides the intern with real-world work experience.
Biweekly Networking: Interns gather weekly for peer networking, collaboration, and to share progress updates on their projects.
Professional Development: Interns are provided with professional development opportunities.
Day of Service: Interns are immersed into our culture of giving back and serving local communities through volunteerism with one of our non-profit partners.
Lunch with Executive Leadership: Interns gather for lunch with the Executive Leadership Team and have the opportunity for casual conversations and some Q&A.
Project Presentations: Each Intern will showcase their experience and accomplishments to a group of leaders at the end of the program.
What You will Do: The intern will be assigned to support the launching of a new Sponsor Finance initiative in Specialty Lending.
They will be assigned specific and presentable deliverables to complete during their internship including the following: Research and write a whitepaper outlining UB’s optimal niche in Middle Market Sponsor Finance.
Build multiple presentations aimed at educating various Sponsor Finance stakeholders (Sponsors, family offices, bankers, private credit, etc.
) on various topics (M&A trends, deal structure, market conditions etc.
) Additional research opportunities including SBIC lending and Sponsor Firms.
What You Will Learn: The intern will achieve a nuanced understanding of the Middle Market Sponsor world, focusing on firms located in Umpqua Bank’s western US footprint.
The intern will also develop familiarity with the various stakeholders involved in Middle Market Banking.
In addition, the intern will develop a basic understanding of credit fundamentals to facilitate their research.
About You: A university junior or senior pursuing a degree in Finance and/or Accounting.
Candidates will need strong research, analytical communication, and financial skills.
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint is required.
Prior experience in finance preferred.
Available to work full-time, forty hours weekly Monday through Friday, for thirteen weeks beginning in May or June on-site daily in either Seattle, Washington.
Work Style: Umpqua Bank offers a Flexible Workplace Program and this opportunity comes with the Flex Office work style which is working in office from a designated company location three days weekly with flexibility to work remotely up to two days weekly.
Our Benefits: The pay rate for this role is $20.
00 per hour.
