JOB TITLE: Staff Accountant FLSA CLASS: Salary/Non-Exempt
STATUS: Full Time
DIVISION: GMCC REPORTS TO: Division Controller

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Division Controller, this position performs general and project specific accounting tasks in support of several company divisions.
Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
Basic understanding of Accounting Principles (Balance Sheet, Income Statement and GAAP) is required and a desire to learn and ask questions is crucial for success in this role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Accounts Payable; code and enter invoices, complete check runs, process annual 1099s, and respond to vendors
Enter deposits and invoices for various divisions
Update, maintain, and analyze various reports to include daily transactions spreadsheets, depreciation reports, and other as needed
Prepare a monthly schedule for fixed assets and marketable securities
Reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts
Process monthly and quarterly B&O taxes for specific divisions
Prepare monthly divisional financial statements
Assist the divisional controller and project accountant as needed
EDUCATION:
Associates (from a 2 year college) or Bachelor’s Degree (from a 4 year college) with 3-5 years’ experience in accounting.
EXPERIENCE:
Basic understanding of Accounting Principles
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Experience with accounting software (Sage Timberline preferred)
Knowledge of general office practices
Ability to prepare records, reports and correspondence neatly and professionally
Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization; establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal office environment.

May sit for long periods of time
Infrequent walking up and down one flight of stairs
Infrequent standing while copying and filing
May require infrequent lifting up to 25lbs.
