Accountant I
Position Status: Full time
Position Location: 95% remote/5% onsite in the Shoreline area
Reports To: CFO
About the Position
The accountant has a key role in Wonderland’s financial functions.
This position is an ideal fit for a professional who has a strong understanding of GAAP and not-for-profit accounting, is comfortable navigating comprehensive systems and databases, can positively collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and can complete tasks with a high degree of ownership and care.
The accountant is responsible for a broad range of accounting tasks including, but not limited to, administration of government grant and contract billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, month-end and year-end closing procedures, and ensuring that the regular reporting and compliance measures for the organization are maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform day-to-day accounting and finance tasks including: Process semi-monthly accounts payable.
Manage accounts receivable.
Ensure payroll and other organization taxes and reports are filed and paid in a timely manner.
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts monthly.
Perform month-end closing procedures, including balance sheet account reconciliations, and recurring journal entries to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
Maintain compliance with and regular processing of grants and contracts: Assist in maintaining all agency contracts with counties, cities, and other agencies.
Prepare monthly and quarterly contract invoices and reports.
Ensure compliance, reporting, and audit requirements are fulfilled with contracts.
Attend regular contractor meetings, virtually or in person.
Additional Responsibilities Assist with annual audit and Form 990 tax return process.
Assist with other finance team functions, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements 4-year degree, accounting preferred, or equivalent experience considered.
2+ years full cycle accounting experience, plus if within non-profit sector or with government contracts/funding.
Proficiency in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Experience working with accounting software, QuickBooks Online preferred.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and advanced Excel knowledge and skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organization.
Able to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Able to maintain confidential information.
Effective communication and positive customer service skills.
Able to engage and work with multiple stakeholders at all organizational levels.
Commitment for all employees to work toward including trauma informed care practices in their daily work.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment While performing this job, the employee will be in an office environment and their home.
At times, this position may lift boxes or items up to 30 pounds.
This position sits for prolonged periods of time, reaches above the head, and uses a screen for up to 8 hours a day.
