PAY RANGE The Target Pay Range for this position is $225,000-$275,000 annually.
The full Pay Range is $175,000-$325,000 annually.
At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training.
Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications.
In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant.
Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Vice President, Assistant Controller IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE: In your role as Vice President Assistant Controller, you will be the driving force behind the strategic vision and objectives for our general accounting operations.
Your expertise will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, acting as an essential role in maintaining an effective system of internal controls.
You will play a pivotal role in optimizing operations, making them efficient, sustainable, and scalable, all geared towards delivering exceptional value to our members and the organization.
WHAT YOU’LL DO: As the Vice President Assistant Controller, you'll be at the forefront of our accounting operations, strategically aligning the team to deliver maximum value to members and BECU.
Your role includes leading critical functions: Loans & Capital Markets: accounting and analysis for loans, allowance for credit losses, derivatives, investments, and borrowings.
Deposits & Other: accounting and analysis for shares, cash, fixed assets and related capitalization policy, expense accruals, payroll, and benefits.
Accounts Payable: Ensure seamless invoice and expense processes in line with BECU's policies and objectives.
Other hats you will wear in this role include: Accounting Compliance: Establish and manage credit union-wide compliance with accounting requirements, providing guidance on general accounting and operational practices.
Financial Reporting: Lead month-end financial results and review processes, offering crucial reporting and analysis to inform Executive Management and the Board.
Collaborate across departments for sound accounting treatment and impact analysis on critical business decisions.
Regulatory and Audit: Oversee support for regulatory and external financial reporting and audits, including execution of key controls and data management and communication with auditors.
Industry Knowledge: Stay informed on trends and developments in the financial services industry, including GAAP and regulatory requirements.
Internal Controls: Ensure robust internal controls for accounting and financial reporting activities, making recommendations and assisting with credit union-wide operational accounting issues.
Process Optimization: Direct the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems, procedures, and policies for efficient and effective accounting functions.
Collaboration and Coaching: Collaborate with Financial Controls and Financial Reporting and Policy to ensure financial statements are reliable and in accordance with GAAP.
Provide insightful direction and coaching to the Accounting team to align with BECU’s visions, missions, and strategic priorities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent work or education-related experience.
Minimum 10 years of management experience required, with 5 years in a management or leadership role within a financial institution.
Minimum 10 years of accounting experience.
Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license.
Thorough knowledge of GAAP.
Excellent leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex issues/ideas with clarity and the implications to Credit Union strategy and value creation.
Ability to interact with Board members, Executive Management Team members, as well as non-financial management throughout the Credit Union.
Full-time hours required with additional hours as necessary.
