OBJECTIVE SUMMARY: Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician, ARNP, PA, or RN.
Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, communicating with patients via telephone or patient portal.
Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by a physician, ARNP, PA, or RN.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Interview patients to obtain current condition/complaint, measure vital signs, weight, and height.
· Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician or provider.
· Record patient’s medical history, social history, family history, surgical history, and obtain outside medical records.
· Performs related work as required for several specialty providers including but not limited to Primary Care.
· Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing and or transport.
· Perform waived tests.
· Perform quality controls for waived test kits.
· Manage message in-box.
· Make outbound calls to patients per provider instructions.
· Enter orders and referrals into the EMR per the provider instructions.
· Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and provider’s instructions to patients.
· Help provider during procedures, sterile set-up.
· Proper instrument handling and cleaning.
· Performing such tasks as, EKG, venipuncture, injections, ear lavage, nebulizer treatments, pulmonary function tests, and removing sutures as directed by the provider.
· Maintain state vaccine records via the Washington Immunization Information System.
· Prepare prescription refills for electronic signature by the provider.
· Prepare paper documents for provider signature.
· Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
· Clean and stock exam rooms, venipuncture room, and lab.
· Occupational Health and Medicine tasks as assigned.
· Perform appropriate hand hygiene.
· Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
· Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality; HIPAA.
· Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
· Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited/ approved Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Same as above
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: One year of experience as an LPN in a clinical setting
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Two years’ experience as an LPN in a clinical setting
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess current LPN license through the State of Washington
SKILLS:
· Knowledge of the English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules, of composition and grammar
· Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases and deformities
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
Work may be stressful at times.
Interaction with others is constant and interruptive
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including Lifting, bending, stooping, stretching, sitting, kneeling, and handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Involves standing and walking.
Requires normal visual acuity and hearing.
Requires exposure to bodily fluids.
Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary.
