The Opportunity WSDOT is currently seeking multiple Secretary Seniors to join our mission of providing safe, reliable, and cost-effective transportation options that enhance communities and economic vitality.

As a pivotal team member, you'll provide essential administrative support to the SnoKing Construction office in the Northwest Region (NWR), contributing directly to the design and construction of WSDOT projects throughout the region.

What to Expect Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Secretary Senior will: Answer phones, receive visitors, and implement WSDOT safety procedures for check-in.
Respond to inquiries, provide support services, and make decisions based on professional judgment and knowledge of policies.
Conduct front office procedures and coordinate clerical functions, maintaining an organized filing system.
Receive, date stamp, and route project documents appropriately, managing incoming and outgoing mail.
Make travel arrangements for staff, including creating itineraries and handling hotel and rental car reservations.
Support special projects, meetings, conferences, and events as requested by the supervisor.
Assist in planning WSDOT and NWR activities, such as employee recognition and holiday functions.
Manage records according to retention and destruction policies, coordinating with relevant personnel.
Draft, review, and edit letters and memos, applying WSDOT templates and guidelines as needed.
Provide timekeeping support, applying rules related to state policies, collective bargaining agreements, and internal controls.
Review and reconcile credit card purchases, enter proper accounting codes, and process invoices through TRAINS.
Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of office experience.
In addition to the following: Knowledge of clerical functions and familiarity with electronic filing systems.
Proficient computer skills, including using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, the Internet, and web-based applications.
Knowledge of effective customer service principles, including professional and courteous communication and etiquette.
Ability to operate a calculator and do math computations related to purchasing.
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have the following: Experience performing clerical, timekeeping, and/or customer service work.
Knowledge of Washington state retention, destruction, and archival processes.
Previous experience with WSDOT purchasing procedures.
Familiarity with scanning, indexing, and filing naming conventions.
Important Notes This recruitment may also be used to fill additional positions per business needs.
This position offers flexible/hybrid remote work options.
The salary listed includes the legislative-approved 5% salary premium for positions in King County.
WSDOT does not use the E-Verify system; therefore, we are not eligible to extend STEM Optional Practical Training (OPT).
