Who you are: The Construction Management Intern will perform tasks independently while working closely with individual team members to ensure that objectives are met.
The role requires solid hands-on and technical skills, a strong attention to detail, excellent critical thinking/problem solving skills and excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
What you will be doing: Change Management Assist in preparing Change Order packages.
Including assembling the packages, making copies- electronic and physical.
Assist in proofreading change management language.
Including RFP, WD, PSA and CO.
Assist with verifying T&M tickets, invoices and checking the math that labor, material and equipment match the tickets.
Assist with maintaining change management log.
Document Control/Office Engineer Assist with scanning and copying documentations.
Assist with tracking open Submittals and RFIs.
Assist with tracking submittals that have not been submitted.
Draft transmittals.
Proofread letters and correspondences.
Field Shadow field inspectors and Construction Engineers.
Assist with onsite compliance.
KBA Engagement Adhering to KBA’s Health & Safety Policies & Procedures.
Contribute to improvement of KBA Processes & Standards.
Other Duties as Assigned Education: A High School diploma or equivalency is required.
Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
General Skills: Basic to intermediate proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and SharePoint required.
Ability to perform mathematics sufficient for volumetric calculation is required.
Good written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills required, including the ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating so that you get along with clients, contractors, co-workers, management and the public.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: Ability to lift 50 pounds, such as boxes of records, is required.
Ability to sit at a workstation and perform data entry is required.
The ability to walk, stand, climb stairs and ladders, and navigate uneven terrain throughout construction worksites for up to 10 hours a day is required.
KBA Benefits for interns - Paid Sick and Safe Leave (PSSL) Federal contractors, employers in Washington State, and employers with employees located or working in the City of Seattle, City of Tacoma and other local municipalities are required to provide employees with paid sick and safe leave at various rates of accrual and carryover.
Paid sick leave is available for employees to care for their health and the health of their family members.
All KBA Interns are eligible regardless of location, exemption status, and/or hours worked per week.
Benefit: To satisfy all applicable paid sick leave laws, PSSL is to accrue at not less than 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
PTO in lieu of PSSL is allowed if its accrual and carryover criteria meets the requirements of the applicable law(s).
