City Light is hiring a Telecommunication System Advisor to provide technical program management for its major telecommunication system upgrades.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the planning, design, development, and construction of MPLS networks, IP Ethernet networks, fiber optics, microwave, and radio systems.
You will coordinate contracting work with consultants; perform contract design reviews and approvals and assume a leading role in the selection, procurement, installation, testing, acceptance, operation, and maintenance of communication equipment that supports Seattle City Light.
You may also actively participate in the design process.
This position will report to the Telecommunications Engineering Supervisor.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Here is more about what you’ll be doing: Development of telecommunication system requirements, working with multiple business units, acting as a lead technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for communications systems, looking at the future needs for the Utility.
Understand SCL specific needs and lead selection of modern telecommunication systems.
Act as the SME in the replacement of Seattle City Light’s Wide Area Communication System.
Support development of the RFP and lead RFP review.
Coordinate with stakeholders.
Support modernization of SCL’s mobile radio system as a subject matter expert.
Review available technology and coordinate selection of the modern system.
Supports telecommunication requirements and review for Electrification and Grid Modernization Projects.
Supports Communication Electricians during implementation and review of these projects.
Support transition of workforce to support and use modern technologies.
Schedule training.
Responsible to work with a variety of groups, including Substation Engineers, Distribution Engineers, Technical Meter group, Distribution Automation, Power System Automation, Generation Automation, and Station Automation to validate functional and technical requirements and meet critical deadlines.
Support management of project documents, budget, and schedule.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The full salary range for this position is $47.
85 to $71.
80 per hour ($99,911 - $149,918 annually).
