Deputy Manager - Seismic Integration TerraPower, LLC.
Is seeking a highly motivated Deputy Manager for the seismic integration team on TerraPower’s advanced nuclear reactor projects.
In this role, you will support personnel and technical management of the seismic integration team, and report directly to the Manager of Seismic Integration.
This team develops plant level requirements and strategies relevant to complex seismic design, analysis, and licensing activities, performs technical acceptance review for seismic relevant work products, and facilitates the integration of strategies and work products across a wide range of project design disciplines.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in civil/structural seismic design and analysis, will have a strong understanding of risk, fragility, and safety analysis, and will be a strong ability to facilitate team personnel and supplier management, project coordination, perform peer review, and guide requirements and criteria development for nuclear power projects.
Responsibilities Provide technical direction, oversight and management to seismic integration engineers and suppliers supporting design and analysis tasks.
Research, develop, and implement seismic design bases and design strategies in support of plant design and licensing activities, including risk-Informed, performance-based strategies and methodologies Develop, maintain, review, and refine plant level and system level requirements and specification documents for integration with plant design activities Interface with design disciplines to identify and develop design information and specify seismic system design and performance criteria Ensure and review that licensing and code requirements are clearly established and implemented in the design and in alignment with project design and licensing strategies Support and review plant design cost studies and engineering decisions as seismic integration SME Coordinate and oversee civil/structural multi-system integrated analyses such as soil-structure interaction (SSI) analyses, seismic analytical model development, external hazard fragility, and probabilistic risk assessment Support monitoring and appraisal of design organizations, partners, contractors, and subcontractors’ performance to ensure that all technical requirements for the design are effectively and correctly implemented and processes are followed Lead and support design and integration reviews and resolution of cross functional technical issues Lead and support the integration of plant information into licensing basis and regulatory submittal documents that support the licensing of nuclear facilities under the Licensing Modernization Project Keep Project Management and Engineering Management informed of major emerging technical issues and risks Support continuous learning and application of nuclear industry best practices to maintain the highest quality of engineering design and proactively identify efficiency/enhancement opportunities Key Qualifications & Skills Education: M.

degree in Civil engineering or equivalent or higher 10+ years of civil/structural design and analysis and/or probabilistic risk assessment or fragility experience Experience with risk-Informed performance based, and probabilistic methodologies for application to seismic design and analyses Experience managing, leading/supervising personnel on complex technical, seismic design or analysis tasks for a nuclear power application.
Excellent writing and communication skills Ability to work independently and with minimum direction to solve challenging problems Candidate must have strong analytical/problem solving skills Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate with internal and external engineering and design teams with minimal direction Experience with new nuclear power plant design projects Experience in a broad range of design and integration topics throughout a product lifecycle, including conceptual design, final design, and construction Experience with commercial codes and standards such as UBC, ACI 318, AISC 360 and ASCE 7 Experience with nuclear codes and standards such as ACI 349, ACI 359, AISC N690, ASCE 4, and ASCE 43 Experience working projects with NRC or DOE regulations Ability to deliver projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.
Ability to work on tasks that require a multi-disciplinary approach.
Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
