McMillen is currently looking for a professional Project Electrical Engineer to join our growing organization.
Qualified applicants will have 5 - 8 years of experience providing electrical engineering support for at least one of these various water resource projects including hydropower plants, dams, spillways, gate structures, pump storage, fish hatcheries, and water treatment facilities.
Services performed may include electrical and control systems for water control structures such as dams, spillways, intakes and outlets, pipelines, and penstocks.
Special interest is placed on experience designing for generators and excitation systems; generator auxiliary systems; generator buses; generator circuit breakers; unit step-up transformers; medium and high voltage switchyards; power plant substations; balance of plant electrical systems such as medium and low voltage switchgear, motor control centers, DC battery systems, backup generators, relay protection and control systems; grounding and lighting systems.
The preferred location for this position is in Boise, Seattle, Denver, Sacramento or Portland, but will consider remote or hybrid arrangements depending on experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Design and analyze electrical systems using appropriate software and methods.
Coordinate workload to complete assigned tasks on schedule, while balancing priorities of multiple projects.
Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with other disciplines, communicate and coordinate needs from other disciplines to achieve complete design.
Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems, and devices to meet project requirements.
Coordinate and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents.
Familiarity of system relay protection functions and controls in generation systems and industrial power distribution systems at medium and low voltages.
Provide construction contract administration support as needed.
Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
Minimum of 5 years related electrical engineering experience
Candidate must have excellent communication, written and organizational skills
Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline consulting team, or as a lead on a small team are required
Position will include an expectation of less than 10 - 15% travel for meetings with clients and vendors as well as project site visits.
Compensation Package:
Pay Range: $90,000 - $125,000 annual
