TITLE: Journey Tech I - General JOB OVERVIEW: Performs the full range of work involved in the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, modification, and operational checks and testing of Engineering Systems at Valley Medical Center and associated clinics.

, Monday - Friday RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager of Plant Engineering PREREQUISITES: High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
Associates Degree, appropriate four (4) year apprenticeship in related field or four (4) years equivalent experience in engineering or construction.
Washington State driver's license and proven good driving record.
Five (5) years' experience in healthcare setting preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS: Able to as well as work in a team setting and work effectively with other shop personnel.
Proven ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form in the English language.
This includes communicating with a diverse population and in a professional and diplomatic manner.
History of regular and punctual attendance.
Proven behavioral traits consistent with Valley Values.
Neat and well-groomed appearance.
Has basic computer skills and can utilize computer technology as part of job.
Proven ability to organize and manage time.
Work experience and/or training in the following areas: electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing maintenance, carpentry, and construction.

Physical requirements include having adequate vision and hearing to perform daily responsibilities; the ability to lift seventy-five (75) pounds waist high regularity and occasionally heavier items; being subject to considerable standing, stooping, kneeling, and bending.
The ability to work in overhead, stretched, cramped and awkward positions.
The ability to work on ladders and scaffolds.
The ability to wear a properly fitted respirator while performing work; and the ability to read, write and speak English.
Requires ability to maintain professional manner when dealing with employees and the public.
The position requires work to be performed both inside and outside in all type of weather.
The incumbent is frequently exposed to sudden temperature changes when working on equipment as well as dampness, water, mud, and fumes.
The incumbent can potentially be exposed to electrical burns, infections, chemicals, gases, bruises, cuts, electric shocks, dust, dirt, and skin and lung irritation as well as exposure to more serious injuries as the result of falls or power tool use.

Essential Responsibilities and Competencies Must have skills in applying knowledge to the engineering field.
Following maintenance schedules, inspections, or work orders, performs maintenance services, diagnoses systems or equipment malfunctions and repairs as necessary.
Maintain medical center buildings in good working order and appearance to VMC standards, using correct product application to respective surface.
Must have a practical knowledge of engineering theory and design and the ability to use theoretical concepts to devise solutions for operating or repair problems on the engineering systems.
Perform assigned duties during drills and emergencies.
Must exercise skill on engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics of engineering systems.
Assist Facility Manager and Lead to comply with all regulatory standards and inspections, both public and private.
Assist with projects as needed.
Coordinate inventory of tools.
Plans and lays out work utilizing sketches and specifications provided.
Determines tools required and estimates necessary materials or parts needed.
Diagnoses and locates malfunctions.
Disassembles, repairs, replaces, services, and adjusts as required.
Serve as a resource to coworkers learning new skills and with department operations.
