This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, high performing team focused on changing the paradigm in satellite development and production! Position Description: As the Director of Software Engineering, you will own the full scope of design, implementation, and test of the software that enables our small satellite products to serve multiple customers carrying out diverse space missions, including but not limited to Communication, Precision Navigation, Remote Sensing and Space Exploration.
You will lead, direct, and manage a diverse software engineering team through full product lifecycles resulting in reliable deliveries of verified software for avionics, power, propulsion, communications, and varying payload subsystems.
You and your team will derive satellite flight software requirements and establish architectures, create interface definition and functional design documentation, develop and test code at all levels of integration, implement test platforms and software to verify software products, and iterate closely with other engineering and production teams to deliver high performance software releases.
As a leader, you will establish a vision and operating approach for the team which aligns with that of the company.
You will develop and iterate upon standards and expectations that enable company success and you’ll be responsible for growing and supporting a diverse staff with the necessary skills.

Primary Responsibilities: Lead the LeoStella embedded systems/flight software team through the full scope of work to design, implement, and test reliably and consistently.
Attract, train, and retain engineers for the embedded systems team.
Establish and maintain best practices for software development and test.
Manage software development efforts to meet cost, schedule, and technical objectives.
Develop Flight Software and component level requirements and verification plans for hardware and software.
Interface with external suppliers and customers to manage requirements and verification, provide/review deliverables, track technical progress, and assist in anomaly resolution.
Produce and review documentation related to system-level software and avionics systems design and verification (software designs, interface documents, electrical system diagrams, test verification reports).
Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (or greater) degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field 10+ years of experience leading delivery of software systems that integrate a large number of hardware devices; experience with satellite flight software development is a plus.

Citizen Or Green Card Holder) Compensation & Benefits: Compensation range is $190-230K + 15% target bonus Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case by case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is one part of your total rewards package - you may also be eligible for up to 15% potential bonuses.
